Introduction to HR 

This module provides an introduction to the Human Resources (HR) function, emphasizing its importance in ensuring smooth organizational operations. Recruitment & Selection

In this module, the whole recruitment and selection process, a major HR responsibility, is discussed. It starts with knowing job descriptions and collating a candidate profile for the right candidate. Students learn how to prospect candidates from such sites as Naukri or LinkedIn and internal databases. The process does not end: screening resumes, shortlisting candidates appropriate for the job, setting up interviews between applicants and hiring teams. Finally, the module looks at the steps of issuing compensatory offer letters in a professional and timely manner.

  • Understanding Job Descriptions – Defining important roles, skills, and qualifications for a position.
  • Sourcing Candidates – Through job portals such as Naukri, LinkedIn, and referrals.
  • Screening & Shortlisting – Surfing through resumes and choosing the most appropriate candidates.
  • Coordinating Interviews – Arranging interviews and proper coordination of candidates & interviewers.
  • Offer Letter Issuance – Writing and sending formal invitations to work for selected candidates.

Onboarding & Induction 

This module explains the onboarding process, which ensures a smooth transition for new employees into the organization. It begins with pre-joining formalities to prepare for the new hire’s arrival, followed by a structured induction program introducing the company’s culture, policies, and team. Key HR tasks like document verification, issuing joining kits, and generating employee IDs are also covered, helping new employees feel welcomed and informed from day one.

  • Pre-Joining Formalities – Completing paperwork, background checks, and initial coordination.
  • Employee Induction Process – Introducing the company’s vision, mission, policies, and team structure.
  • Document Verification – Validating personal, academic, and professional documents.

Attendance & Leave Management 

This module covers the systems and policies used to monitor employee attendance and manage leaves efficiently. Learners will understand how biometric systems and timesheets help track working hours accurately. The module also explains standard leave policies, types of leaves (casual, sick, earned), and approval workflows. Emphasis is placed on weekly/monthly reporting to ensure transparency and support payroll processing.

Payroll Basics 

This module introduces the core elements of payroll management, helping learners understand how employee salaries are calculated and processed. It explains various salary components like CTC, gross, and net pay. Key statutory deductions such as PF, ESI, and TDS are covered, along with how reimbursements and deductions are handled. The module also guides learners on generating accurate salary slips, a critical part of monthly HR operations.

  • PF, ESI, TDS Concepts – Overview of mandatory deductions and their calculation.
  • Reimbursements & Deductions – Managing allowances, deductions, and claims.

HR Policies & Compliance 

This module focuses on creating and implementing HR policies that align with company goals and legal standards. Learners will understand how to draft company policies, define workplace rules, and promote ethical conduct. It also covers essential labour laws and compliance areas to ensure organizations operate within legal frameworks. Special attention is given to POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) guidelines to ensure a safe and respectful workplace.

  • Company Policy Drafting – Creating clear, consistent HR policies aligned with legal and organizational needs.
  • Code of Conduct – Defining acceptable behavior, ethics, and professionalism at the workplace.
  • Labour Laws Basics – Introduction to key Indian labour laws (e.g., Shops & Establishments Act, Wages Act).
  • POSH Guidelines – Understanding and implementing anti-sexual harassment policies and internal committee roles. 

Performance Management 

This module introduces the strategies and systems used to evaluate and improve employee performance. Learners will understand how performance appraisals are conducted and the importance of fair, transparent evaluations. The difference between KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) and KRAs (Key Result Areas) will be explained, along with their role in goal-setting. Exit Process 

This module explains the formal procedures followed when an employee leaves an organization. It covers handling resignations professionally and conducting exit interviews to gain insights into employee experience and reasons for leaving. Learners will understand the steps involved in full and final settlements, including clearance of dues. The process of preparing and issuing relieving and experience letters is also explained to ensure a smooth and respectful exit.

HR Software Tools 

This module introduces the essential software tools used in modern HR management. Learners will gain hands-on knowledge of HRMS (Human Resource Management Systems) and Excel for maintaining employee data, attendance, and payroll. The use of online resume databases like Naukri and Monster is explained for efficient candidate sourcing. Additionally, the module covers the Applicant Tracking System (ATS), which helps in managing the entire recruitment cycle — from posting jobs to hiring decisions.
